EMERGENCY SUPPORT FOR OUR REFEREE MOSES AFTER ACCIDENT

On Friday 2 October 2026, at about 6pm, Eturu Moses was riding his bicycle home from his garden in Nakatunya ward, Soroti City, Uganda, when a speeding car struck him and did not stop. The day’s work was done. He was heading back to the people who depend on him. There was no warning, and no one to answer for it. Neighbours found him on the roadside, his bicycle beside him.

Moses is known in two places. In his garden, he is a quiet provider. The soil is how he feeds his household. On the touchline, he has served the Lira Corporate League as a referee since March 2023, keeping order so companies in Lira can meet, compete, and give back. Players and officials know him for fairness and for staying until the final whistle.
He is now at Kumi Hospital. After the CT scan, doctors recommended further scans to assess the damage to the bone. Kumi is known in Uganda for orthopaedic care, so he is in the right place. The cost is the hard part. Each day that passes adds treatment, medicine, and time he cannot farm or officiate. That income has stopped. The bills have not. He did not cause this, and he cannot carry it alone. His wife keeps the home, and they have three children.

A gift now covers care, medicine, and the gap until he can return to his garden and the league. Any amount is welcome. The family and the league cannot raise all of this alone, which is why we are asking others to stand with us.

I am Joshua Adea, Chairman of the Lira Corporate League. Moses has been part of our league since 2023. He remains family to the Lira Corporate League even in this critical time, and that is why we are standing with him.

All funds received will be used solely for Moses’s treatment bills and his recovery. Nothing will be applied to any other purpose.
